Reminds me of a cuckoo clock!

On the OSI 25" there are two large blocks of buidlings listed as granaries facing on to the waterfront just downstream of the ferry crossing. Clear view of any boats coming upstream from Queenstown (Cobh) and control of the east side of the ferry crossing and plenty of space to billet troops. Modern day view on earth view show apartment block and carpark. If this is the place Morning Mary it is for the NLS folder.

In the NLI Fergus O'Conor collection There is a photo on page 5 Title Passage West -taken from a distance. It shows these granaries Like OSI 25" link. I cannot get it to link to that photo it wants to copy whole file.

There is a mention here of the following for May 3rd 1921: HMS Eglantine (Sloop) HMS Convulvulus (sloop) HMS Silene (Sloop) HMS Cicero (Sloop) HMT Ard Patrick ( Mersey Class, Naval Trawler) There was a glut of surplus warships, post-WW1. These four sloops , were among sixty of that type, being sold off from the Royal Navy. The Ard Patrick was an Admiralty trawler, also for sale. Some ships had actually been sold, when Republican forces decided to attack them at Caririgaloe, near Cobh. Armed men overpowered the civilian caretakers, and opened the seacocks on the vessels. The results were reported as ‘one vessel leaned heavily to port while another settled on the riverbed’ All vessels were sold by the end of the year.

The BMH has a an account of the incident from Michael Burke who was involved.

While the ships bell says "Cambria" this ship had been renamed "Arvonia" by 1921 flic.kr/p/eUQqr9

There is a second photo Hailing a passing vessel going up the river Lee to warn them of the danger of two sunken vessels which the notes claim is a "Photographic print (embossed with "W.D. Hogan, / 56 Henry St., / Dublin." lower left) of Free State soldiers (with their backs to the camera) on board the S.S. Lady Wicklow." This would seem to indicate that it was during the Civil War, and maybe a different incident to the one I mentioned above in 1921.

(I'm assuming that the S.S. Lady Wicklow reference is another misidentification, and that it is actually the Arvonia like in most of the other Hogan shots - as previously argued by O Mac .)

Any chance that that photo is reversed and this is a view looking east? The bank (Hill 16?) n the background doesn't seem to sit right with Cassini. Of course, I could be looking at it backwards myself. Edit: I got it backwards, so view looking west
