Irish Independent, 6 May 1921, 3, has two other photos of the warehouse, with this caption: "Views of the ruined goods store of the British and Irish Steam Packet Co. at the North Wall, resulting from the fire following the destruction by armed men of motor tyres consigned to the military. Hundreds of tyres (picture on left) were destroyed." The second photo shows a DMP man, possibly the same one pictured here. The two British officers were killed in the gun battle at 'Fernside', Drumcondra, from which Seán Treacy and Dan Breen - Vice-O/C and Quartermaster of the 3rd Tipperary Brigade IRA, respectively - narrowly escaped. Treacy is believed to have attended the funeral procession shown here - who knows, maybe he's in the photo - just hours before he himself was killed on Talbot Street. Niamh Hassett and Daniel Jack, Searching for Seán: remembering Seán Treacy 100 years on (2020), 135-6: "Leo Henderson reported seeing Treacy around 1pm coming from the direction of Amiens Street and the area where the funeral cortege was passing along the quays. Reputedly, Treacy attended to pray for the souls of the men who were killed at Fernside. At a later meeting in the Republican Outfitters [on Talbot Street], Treacy confirmed that he was indeed at the funeral procession." National Library of Ireland on The Commons

This one gave me goosebumps. The depth of field and lighting really gives the image a three-dimensional quality. You can just imagine the noise of all those children!!
