Reminds of all the stories back in the day of planes landing at Shannon Airport for refuelling and then being held because of fog. Limerick didn't have enough hotels so people could get sent out to Kilkee. Including Che Guevara! kilkee.clareheritage.org/people/che-guevara-in-kilkee

I wonder if the man leaning on the shovel and the rubble is associated with what looks like replacement street lighting? On the right is an existing gas street lamp (looking very much like a fishtail burner rather than an incandescent mantle) and next to it is the much taller replacement column with supply pipe ready for lantern. I wonder if the local press covered such events? - they usually did!
