1932 – 1982: Served as a continuous member of the board of directors for The Irish Press.1951 – 1982: Held the powerful executive position of managing director, controlling the day-to-day business operations and editorial trajectory of the group's papers.1982: Remained actively at the helm of the organization until his death from cancer in February 1982 at age 71
Vivion's death marked a turning point for the media group. Control of the company was passed down to his son, Éamon de Valera (Vivion's grandson). Following his tenure, the company suffered extreme financial stress, legal battles with minority shareholders, and shifting media landscapes, which ultimately led to the sudden, permanent shutdown of The Irish Press titles in May 1995

Madame Louise Grafton and her clever Dramatic and Comedy Company have provided excellent entertainment for well filled houses in the old Church during the past week. "Under Two Flags," "Not Guilty", "The Shadows of a Great City", "The Lady of Lyons", and "The Unknown", were amongst the pieces staged. The performances as a whole were successful, and the staging and general arrangements astonishingly complete. Madame Grafton goes to Castlerea next week where she is sure of a warm welcome.
