    "Three drinks of water (holy) taken on three consecutive occasions from The Bishops Skull. This skull is believed to belong to one of three bishops who were murdered for their faith in Penal times. This particular skull is in a very extraordinary state of preservation and s kept at a house named Rielly, near to the village of Mahera in Co. Cavan. The skull is requisitioned from all parts of Ireland and the cure is well recognised." The Schools Collection volume 0721 page 212. www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/5009031/4979138 Someone on "Boards.ie" claims to have the bishops skull in Athboy. "The "Bishops Skull", a faith cure for whooping cough, which existed in Cavan between Virginia and Kells has now passed into my care following the death of Peggy, the lady who honoured it for many years. She was my late husband's aunt. We are keen to keep it available to everyone who needs it. So it is now in Athboy. Word of mouth will also lead those who need it to it but the internet is a good place to start. The O'Reilly family. It is free to all who believe in its power.“

    Lurgan is not between Virginia and Kells, it is the other side of Virginia, so the skull may have had another home between 1943 and boards.ie, and this is probably not Peggy.

    The Irish Tourism Association seems to have had a very odd sense of what might attract tourists. Did they not know that there was a War Emergency on in 1943?

    In 1911. there is one Reilly in Stramatt townland, Christopher Reilly farmer and merchant, living in a private dwelling and shop, which would be at Mahera crossroads.
