We are the government agency responsible for cultural heritage and historic environment issues in Sweden. Our public archives hold about four million photographs – including copy prints, glass plates and other negatives, slides and digital copies. The photographs were taken over a period stretching from the later part of the 19th century until today. More about our photo collections Our photo collections include individual collections from various times – such as that of Carl Curman, mainly from the latter part of the 19th century – as well as the Board’s own recent photographic work and photographs taken over more than a century in connection with the activities of the Board (which actually was founded in the year 1630! – long before photography was invented).

    Really old history here!

My photos of this station (here and here) are history too because the station has been moved earlier this year

Diederik Thanks a lot for showing us your recent photos of the railway station - and thanks for the information that the station has been moved (which makes the photos even more valuable)! Actually, parts of the whole town are about to be moved...since the ground is damaged by the mining industry. Read more about it on Wikipedia - in English or in Swedish. /Anna B.

What kind of locomotive is shown here?
  • Swedish National Heritage Board - Riksantikvarieämbetet said:
oaktree_brian_1976 It is a D-locomotive, built by ASEA. I asked about it on Twitter and got a link to an article on Wikipedia. :) / Anna B.
