No success on this so far ... it occurs to me that "Lady J. Hamilton" could be the name of the young woman, OR the dog. What I've looked at so far ... LOC Prints & Photographs, Chronicling America, Google (search), New York Times archives, Google newspapers and books. Not to be confused with famous model/muse, (Emma) Lady J. Hamilton, late 1800's. [earlier comment seems off-topic]

This could be an early photograph of Lady Rosalind Bingham, who married James Hamilton, 3rd Duke of Abercorn in 1894 IMO. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosalind_Hamilton,_Duchess_of_Abercorn They were in the news in December 1922, when James Hamilton was appointed governor of Northern Ireland, s. photos in Evening star. I forgot to remember that the date a photograph was taken may often bear no relationship to when it maybe have appeared in the Bain News Service!

At first I thought this could be an earlier photo as you suggested. When I look at the photo of Lady Rosalind Bingham in Chronicling America, I note she married James Hamilton, 3rd Duke of Abercorn in 1894.

Thus the photo, below of Lady Katherine Hamilton in 1923 cannot be the same person.

Would she have changed her name from Rosalind to Katherine when she married James Hamilton?

There is a younger photograph of Lady Katherine Hamilton as a bridesmaid at the wedding of Prince Albert, Duke of York, and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on May 3, 1923, where her age is closer to that of the Bain News Service photograph.

Given the estimated date range of the Bain News Service photo [between ca. 1920 and ca. 1925], would Lady Hamilton be in the news due to her being a bridesmaid in the royal wedding? (I still haven't resolved the "Lady J." vs "Lady K" (Katherine).

Pixel Wrangler and Richard Norton: I never pretended that this photo shows Lady Kathleen Hamilton (1905-1990) or Lady Moyra Kathleen Campbell-Grove - I would expressly rule that out. As I wrote, I think it's probably Rosalind Hamilton, née Lady Rosalind Bingham (1869-1958). If so, this photo was taken around 1887.

In 1949 Mr Edward Matthews of Newrath was a manager at John Egan and Sons, Barronstrand Street. His son Harry had just obtained his Degree in Dental Surgery (which was cause for a couple of paragraphs in Waterford Standard Saturday 29 October 1949).
