  I'm guessing it was some form of gauge or template used to check minimum clearance from constantly invading tree branches. (but those regular 'flaps' on top and bottom dont seem to offer any function)

  The Sligo, Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway had no reason to continue after the railway to Enniskillen was closed.

  Interesting. It doesn't seem to be either a MGWR or GS&WR engine. They had no 2-2-2s according to wikipedia.
