The Rockhampton War Memorial was originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War One. It commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One, World War Two, the Korean, Malaysian, and Borneo campaigns, and the Vietnam War. A plaque has been placed at the cenotaph in remembrance of all who served. Seeds from the Lone Pine at Gallipoli were obtained from the Turkish Government in Australia's Bicentennial Year, and pines from some of these seeds now form part of an avenue to and around the Cenotaph. It was unveiled on the 16th November 1924 by the Governor of Queensland Sir Matthew Nathan and was designed by architects Hockings and Palmer and produced by monumental masons, F M Allen. Taroom is a small picturesque country town located on the banks of the Dawson River in the Sandstone Wonders region, an aptly-named region encircled by magnificent sandstone cliffs and mountain ranges, offering adventures into ancient landscapes and rural Queensland pioneering history.
Locals describe Taroom as a friendly town – welcoming to visitors, with some great spots to grab a good country meal, a nice cuppa, a unique gift shop, regular sporting events and river festival, and lovely scenic spots to visit, including having a picnic at Sandy Creek, just on the outskirts of town; or at Isla Gorge – watching the gorge’s colours changing at sunset and sunrise.

The Queensland Bottle Tree is a stunning, easy-to-grow specimen tree native to Queensland, Australia. The Queensland Bottle Tree is unique to Australia, although it has been successfully transplanted to areas such as southern California in the United States. Its primary growing region, as should come as no surprise given the name, is in Queensland, Australia, and New South Wales. Native to the stretch of Australia between northern New South Wales and the inland part of Queensland, the Queensland Bottle Tree is semi-deciduous. While it retains its leaves through the winter, it drops them in the spring, making way for a sprinkling of creamy yellow flowers.
