This pic was taken during the King's Birthday holiday weekend in early June 1935, when a group of some 15 climbers from the National Parks Association's camp at Mt Ernest climbed the nearby Mt Lindesay. This photo shows the group on the open Northen slopes of Mt Lindesay... This pic is from one of Ken Rogers' photo albums which were at one point held at the National Parks Association of Queensland archive...I gather the albums are now held at the SLQ. Ken Rogers was one of a group of more adventurous hikers and climbers who were active in SE Queensland from the later 1920s and thru the 1930s...his photo albums include a number of photos taken by other photographers...he and his friends appear to have shared their photos...and prints of many of the photos that appear in Ken's albums also appear collections compiled by Bert Salmon, Cliff Wilson and Nora Dimes...the accompanying note indicates this particular pic was taken by 'R.W.B.' (ie. Reg Booth)... All up Ken Rogers' albums provide a fascinating insight into leisure and recreation in 1930s Queensland...Ken worked in the Queensland Public Service...as did many of the people who appear in the various photos...Bert Salmon worked as a photographer with the Department of Agriculture and Stock...Muriel Patten worked at the Department of Agriculture and Stock...Doris Goy worked at the Queensland Herbarium, Irene Booth and her brother Reg worked at the PMG's Department, etc... Unfortunately, one of Ken Rogers' albums...covering the period 1932-33...appears not to have made its way to the SLQ...either that or it hasn't been scanned yet...this 'missing' album contains some particularly significant photos that don't appear in the various other collections... For what it's worth, Bert Salmon (seen here 1st left) was one of the preeminent Australian climbers of the earlier 20th century...he was also probably the most prolific Mt Lindesay climber until relatively recent times…Bert’s log of his Mt Lindesay ascents indicates that he made 27 ascents between 1928 and 1964…this 1935 King's Birthday holiday weekend ascent was evidently his 10th...

MY Mum's old Vauxhall

spelio Thanks Bill. Due to your help I found out that this car was a Vauxhall H-Type 10/4 [H - Ten-Four] a British-built small family car produced by Vauxhall between 1937 and 1947, which I will add that information to the catalogue.

This location is not Amberley... as the mountains in the picture are Mount Edwards and Little Mount Edwards near Aratula, Kalbar area.
