High up on the wall at extreme left, nearest the camera, is the monument of Admiral Sir William Penn (1621-70) founder of Pennsylvania. His half-armour and the banners of Dutch ships he captured in battle can be seen above, and remain there today.

" In 1903 Brims family moved to Mareeba were Donald, Harriet's husband, started a joinery works, which is extended by two sons of Donald and Harriet. The company is named "Brim Bross". builds the Queensland National Bank and the Anglican Church in Mareeba. Harriet also sets up a photography business in Mareeba, using dry plate cameras manufactured by her husband."

Here is the paragraph from "Queensland Times", Mon 21 Oct 1946, which so beautifully describes the fascinating interior of the renovated church. The title of the article: Large crowds attend the memorable ceremony. "People from particularly every corner of the Fassifer District were present at the blessing and opening of the reconstructed St. Boniface's Roman Catholic Church, at Kalbar, Yesterday. ...................................................................... ..................................................................... Church much bigger The new building has been completely redesigned from the old Kolbar Catholic Church, which was erected about 60 years ago adjacent to the Catholic cemetery. ............................................................. Accent has been placed on the interior rather than on the outside. The interior features a dignified design in jacobean oak walls to the height of 8ft. around the nave. The dado of oak panelling from white continues to the ceiling, which is of particular interest. This presents handsome styling with dignified oak panelling over a white background. Heavy beams, also in oak panelling, contribute to the mission style ceiling. The sanctuary is panelled with ivory painted walls, with a pure white ceiling. Two beautifully stained glass windows outlined in the buff, with buff rails and skirting materially add to the effectiveness. The massive carving of the altar rail taken from the old church was 12ft. long and has been incorporated into an attractive new 28ft. rail. All the church windows are stained glass in Gothic effect. There also are five leaded windows in well-blended colours. Furniture and fittings were re-designed to harmonise with the architectural style of the interiors.
