"Statue to the memory of James Doyle (JKL), Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin
Statue is in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow. The sculptor was John Hogan, Tallow, Co. Waterford. He won the commission to create the memorial statue in 1837 and it was completed in 1839." -

"James Warren Doyle, O.E.S.A. (1786–1834) was a Roman Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin in Ireland, who used the signature "JKL", an acronym from "James Kildare and Leighlin." Doyle was active in the Anti-Tithe movement. A campaigner for Catholic Emancipation until it was attained in 1829, he was also an educator, church organiser and the builder of Carlow cathedral. ..."

Odd, the Stations of the Cross #11 behind the statue does not match the ones in the modern shot above, but also doesn't match that Delany Archive shot. Nor is the statue in the same position in any of the 3 shots.
