The windmill to the left most likely is the 'Overveerpolder', near the 'Warmonderhek' in Warmond. Not far away from the 'Schuttersveld', military parade ground in Leiden. This particular windmill ceased to exist around 1930. Almost the same picture, in a lesser quality, can be found in the archives of the Dutch Windmill Database Organisation ( www.molendatabase.nl ). See at their website in the section of 'Database van verdwenen molens in Nederland' under 'DB nr' # 3536 to convince yourself. (this information has been made available by the help of mr L. "An oast, oast house or hop kiln is a building designed for kilning (drying) hops as part of the brewing process. They can be found in most hop-growing (and former hop-growing) areas and are often good examples of vernacular architecture. ... They consist of a rectangular one or two storey building (the "stowage") and one or more kilns in which the hops were spread out to be dried by hot air rising from a wood or charcoal-fired below. The drying floors were thin and perforated to permit the heat to pass through and escape through a cowl in the roof which turned with the wind. Surely not "the first windmills in Australia" ? What about the one on Observatory Hill in Sydney (1796)? Maybe the first all-metal, mass-produced windmills.

wounder if you are marketing miniature working versions of your mills. bye and bye my grandfather had an agency for Southern Cross Mills in the 1930s for central western districts of N.S.W. .one such mill on his farm ( no Longer in the Family) was written on the leg circa 1932
