There doesn't appear to have been much in Tycor (or Ticor as it was spelt on the OSI maps back then) when this photo was taken. The nearest big house would probably have been the Manor of St. John in Lisduggan. This is Tycor on the 25" OSI map maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,658965,611881,6,9

There does not appear to have been any Powers living in Tycor around this time, I wonder if this was taken at Mrs Powers parents house, if so it might possibly have been at the home of Walter and Ellen Hearne. Walter was a caretaker at the waterworks in Tycor and was 72 in 1911. At that time, cycling was the preserve of the gentry and well-off. Bicycles were very expensive before mass production and besides, it would have been consider socially pretentious for anyone lower than middle-class to be seen cycling.

And look how they were dressed for their bicycle tour. Especially the ladies in their long dresses.

Gerhard ....and that's why ladie's bicycles traditionally have no crossbar. In those days, cycling was the preserve of the wealthy and so when out on a leisurely cycle one had to look one's best....not let the side down.
