Likely a gathering of New York socialites in the "Belgian Relief Shop": Here's another image of Margaret Andrews (rightmost in main image above) from the Bain collection:

Muriel Egerton Winthrop (1894-, daughter of Egerton L. Winthrop, was a champion amateur equestrian in Newport RI, 1912; she married Richard De Blois Boardman in 1921, and married a second time, to Harold Aymar Sands, in 1925.

@blor: you are right. Here's another photo of the same group that was published in the New York Times memory.loc.gov/service/sgp/sgpnyt/1914/191412/19141206/00... on Dec 6, 1914. The caption is "Society girls who are daily foragers for "Little Belguim[sic]" the Fifth Avenue shop.

swanq The group is almost, but not exactly the same in the Times. "Miss Morgan" is identified as Camilla Morgan.

They are wonderful B&W and composition.

The way those two guys are sitting on the chairs can only be described as "Rebellious".

If these guys won a Maiden Fours trophy then they were not a Senior four as listed. It was possible to row above your grade at that time in the more provincial regattas, if there was no entry for the senior levels then a crew could go "pot-hunting" and gather a senior trophy against little or no opposition. However they were then forever locked into the senior grade and could no longer row "Maiden or Junior"! The big trophy in the centre rear with the seven names is most certainly not a fours trophy but this four could have been part of an eight who won it. Lovely old shot and great memories.
