The iconic Burnett Bridge in Bundaberg is 120 years old after being officially opened on 24 August 1900. The Governor, Charles Cochrane-Baillie, 2nd Baron Lamington, performed the ceremonial honors in one of his last major public acts before the colonies federated to form the Australian nation on 1 January 1901. The bridge was designed by engineer and Queensland Government Architect, Alfred Barton Brady. When it opened in 1900, the Burnett Bridge was the fifth-longest metal truss bridge in Australia. Of the others, all have been demolished or decommissioned. It's 412 meters long and carries a roadway of 7.3 meters and a footpath. The bridge was heritage listed in 1992. The Strand is a seaside foreshore located in Townsville, Australia. It is located in the suburb of North Ward. The Strand has a view of the Port of Townsville and Magnetic Island, as well as to Cape Cleveland. The Strand has been a part of Townsville's history since the city was founded in the mid-19th century. * Public outdoor swimming baths were first constructed between 1886 and 1889. * In 1891, military fortifications were established at Kissing Point, a rocky headland at the north-west end of the Strand. * By 1929, a branch of the Queensland Country Women's Association built the Pioneer Women's Memorial Building with five seaside huts on Mitchell Street, Kissing Point. * Anzac Memorial Park began as The Strand Park in the 1910s as a place for the residents of Townsville to visit and enjoy. * The Telecasters North Queensland Building was previously the Queens Hotel. * The Tobruk Memorial Baths were built between 1941 and 1950, with early construction slowed as a result of the Second World War. The Vauxhall Big 6 is a name given to a series of automobiles which was produced by Vauxhall in the United Kingdom from 1934 to 1940.[2] Rolling chassis were also bodied in Australia. Based on a lengthened 111 in (2,800 mm) version of the Vauxhall Cadet the new car had a conventional chassis with semi-elliptical leaf springs all round and Vauxhall-Lovejoy hydraulic dampers. Wire -spoked wheels were fitted. Compared with the Cadet, the engine was mounted further forwards. To satisfy the demand for larger coach-built bodies the BXL model was a long wheelbase 130 in (3,300 mm) version. Two engines were offered, both six cylinder.
