perfgeek: Thanks for your comment! Actually, the platform the locomotive is sitting on is known as a transfer table (sometimes a traverse table or traverser). It is a platform on wheels sometimes used to shift locomotives or train cars from one track to another. We hope you continue to enjoy the collection!
