    He does look well and it is nice to put a face to a name. Obviously he and the wife made a good combination. That is a very historic chain around his neck, a symbol of British rank and station yet one that should be treasured for the connections with our country down the centuries!     Ah when nurses looked like nurses are supposed to look! I have an 1930s Dutch nurses uniform, much like it. My grandmothers wore it as well.

    Did the nurses' collar shapes signify anything? (My mother was a nurse; in her era the shape of the nurse's cap reflected where she was trained.)
