    "Station Hospitals rendered general medical and surgical treatment for those areas where there were sufficient military populations to justify their maintenance, but not sufficient to justify General Hospitals. They were usually located at most Posts, Camps, and Stations for hospitalization of local personnel. In the Zone of Interior, such Hospitals were housed in buildings and received names, while in the Communications Zone, they were set up in tentage or improvised housing, and here they were numbered.     books.google.com/books?id=qRdFAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA49&lp... describes a Red Cross trip in response to a request by the Queen of Rumania, starting in July 1917 via Russia, that involved a several-day stop in Japan on the way. The party consisted of 20 men (of whom 12 were doctors) and 11 nurses. Those numbers seem to match this group.
