In New York in March, 1915 to play in the Women's National Indoor Tennis Tournament at the Seventh Regiment Armory (Park Avenue Armory), where this photo was probably taken. query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F00A10FE3E5A15738... She made it to the Semi-Finals and was defeated by the eventual champion, Molla Bjurstedt.

I find myself wondering Richmond is meant as a place here. in 1914 A Mrs Willard Sullivan from Richmond, VA was a leading woman tennis player. See, for example, NYT of June 10, 1914. query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F1081EFB3A5B13738... and page 89 of Wright & Ditson's lawn tennis guide for 1914 books.google.com/books?id=xPAWAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA89&lp...

Later, a Mrs Willard P. Sullivan is found mentioned as a golfer in Virginia. www.la84foundation.org/SportsLibrary/AmericanGolfer/1933/... has a picture (from 1933), on the bottom of page 9. The woman on the left could be the same person as pictured here. The golfer's death is reported in the February 1959 issue of USGA Journal and Turf Management. "Mrs. Willard P. Sullivan, Ashland Va., member of the USGA Women's Committee from 1932-1938 and chairman in 1937."

Nice find on the photo, swanq! I like the idea of Richmond being a location--that makes sense with the second line placement. And she certainly seems to be dressed in sporty style. It's only the "Miss" makes me wonder about matching her to a married woman.
