    MOTHER DEFEATS DAUGHTER MRS. GARDINER'S FIFTH CLUB TITLE Chipping and Putting Prove Wining Factor Mrs W.F. Gardiner won the Royal Queensland golf club's championship for the fifth time yesterday. She defeated her daughter Miss Janet Gardiner (title holder), 2 and 1, in a closely contested 36 holes match. With six one pott greens in the second round, Mrs. Gardiner demonstrated the value of proficiency in the short game supporting accuracy from tees and airways.     There is a blog story on Jerry Jerome (Aboriginal boxer) 1874-1943 at www.slq.qld.gov.au/blog/jerry-jerome-aboriginal-boxer-187.... Jerry Jerome died on 27 September 1943 at Cherbourg Aboriginal mission penniless and is assumed to be buried at Murgon cemetery. He had a great boxing career.

    Tennis was becoming popular in the summer of 1903 and the Headmaster, Horace Dixon, decided to erect a roughly put-together net and call it a tennis court.
