She looks amazing for 60, or even pretty good for 42. Edna Wallace Hopper embraced the image of "The Eternal Flapper" and toured the country in the 20s advertising her beauty products, skin care regiment and her own 1922 face lift surgery. Her actual age was always a bit of a mystery. Rather than, as the stereotype would go, adjusting her age down, she is widely suspected to have adjusted her age upward to make her products and regimen seem more effective. According to the Ellis Island records she claimed to be 60 when she landed on the Homeric in 1925. But when she applied for a passport ten years earlier she claimed to be 32.

has a picture of Edna that complicates the situation. The woman appears to be in a top that could be the same as in this picture. The caption is

As an aside, the stuffed toy dog in the newspaper photo looks somewhat like the dog seen with Florence Walton in:

The Bozeman Courier., September 02, 1925, page 1, photo in upper right chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn86075113/1925-09-02/ed-... "EDNA WALLACE HOPPER ON WAY TO VIENNA FOR STUDY Edna Wallace Hopper, America's best known "flapper" is on her way. to Vienna to investigate the latest discovery of Prof. Steinach, who by an injection of a serum, claims to have Monkey Glands backed off the boards when it comes to renewing youth. Miss Hopper may justly claim to be an expert in regaining youth or retaining youth, for she is a woman of 62 years of age, who looks and acts like a girl in her early twenties. Daring the trip to Europe on the S. S. Homeric, Miss Hopper played ring tennis frequently and also patronized the ship's gym every day, the electric horse being her favorite exercise."
