A four-masted steel barque built in 1892 by T.R. Oswald & Co., Milford Haven. Dimensions: 94,84×12,90×7,74 meters [311'2×42'4×25'5], tonnage: 2914 GRT and 2723 NRT. 1892 June Launched at the shipyard of T.R. Oswald & Co., Milford Haven, for J.R. De Wolf & Son, Liverpool. 1910 August 13 Sold to Knöhr & Burchard, Hamburg, and was renamed Jersbek. 1914 Interned at Corral, Chile. 1921 Returned to Europe and handed over to the French Government as war damage compensation. 1922 Hulk at Gibraltar.

Explore! Mr Hall would have been pleased! Found it! From that "A. S. N. Hotel" (see note), which is mentioned in Trove as John and Mill Streets, Pyrmont (selling tobacco without a licence). The LYDERHORN is anchored in Pyrmont Bay, with Pyrmont in the background. We are looking almost west from about the "R" in Darling on this 1895 interactive map - www.nla.gov.au/apps/cdview/?pi=nla.map-rm3443-sd&rgn=... A stone's throw from the ANMM, but almost unrecognizable to what is there now - the area has probably been rebuilt two or three times.

The New-York Tribune. November 12, 1922, Page 14, chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030214/1922-11-12/ed-... reported that the Metzgers arrived in the U.S. on the Resolute the day before. Metzger is described as "manager of the German Opera Company." Also on the Resolute was Curt Taucher, seen in nearby Bain photo.
