Noisette won first prize for "Limit, Bitches" at the April 19, 1914 French Bulldog Specialty Show in New York. In a New York Times article the next day ("Victory For Dr. De Luxe"), Noisette's owner is listed as John E. Haslam. Haslam had another Frenchie, Melisande, who took "reserve" for the "Winners, Bitches" in the same show. Many experts felt that Melisande was the strongest contender and deserved the award. John Haslam served as president of the French Bulldog Club of America.

Mrs. Helen B. Rich of Saratoga Springs was a charity organizer and society writer. She died in April of 1993.

Bessie Pickens Abott (originally Abbott, her mother's maiden name; 1878-1919) was an American operetta singer, born Ogdensburg, NY, once part of a Vaudeville act with her twin sister Jessie. Bessie was singing with Caruso in San Francisco's Grand Opera House when the 1906 earthquake happened. She retired from performing after she married sculptor T. Waldo Story in 1912 (a bit of a scandal--his first wife, living in Rome, had long refused him a divorce, and claimed the marriage to Abott was illegal). She was widowed in 1915. Bessie Abott died in 1919, at the age of 40, "after an illness of several years."
