    They are headed west on Liberty Street, crossing West Street. The pedestrian overpass above led to the ferry to New Jersey, where they were to get trains to Spartanburg, S.C.
    In the background is the Central Railroad Hotel, which was located at West and Liberty.
    A Berenice Abbott photo from 1936 shows the view the soldiers in this photo had:
    Ferry, West Street, foot of Liberty Street, Manhattan.
