Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Thoroughbred Horse Racing, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

Iron Mask was a 1908 dark bay gelding sired by Disguise, out of the imported mare Royal Rose (sired by Royal Hampton). He was bred & owned by James R. Keene. The horse died in 1916. The photo is most likely from 1910, when he ran in prominent New York races for two-year-olds. Due to a wagering ban, there was no organized racing in the Northeast from late 1910 - early 1913. The jockey is Roscoe Troxler, who won the 1906 Kentucky Derby on Sir Huon.

Assuming this photo was taken the same day as the other Belmont photos posted, it would be dated later than I thought....the age of a horse in another photo sets them between 1913 - 1915.
