trove.nla.gov.au/work/238388145 - the ANMM also has a Sam Hood pic of this van and cameraman

covid convict the ANMM one looks like it may be a copy from a later print rather than from the original nitrate neg. The SL disposed of the original Sam Hood nitrate negs after photographing them on 35mm film and our digital copies are reproduced from the 35 mm b/w negs rather than direct from original nitrate negs in RGB.

Ha! This is fun - found via a Trove search . . . The building is still there at the south west corner of Crown and Liverpool Streets, with an extra floor or two on top - hence it is not instantly recognizable. GIBSON BATTLE'S NEW PREMISES. The new automotive electric service station for Gibson Battle and Co Pty Ltd at the corner of Liverpool and Crown streets Sydney is nearing completion and the company expects to transfer its business from the present premises in Commonwealth Street on December 9. A site of about 8,300 feet is provided in the new premises the whole of which is occupied by the ground floor service station and offices. The administrative offices on the first floor occupy 2,700 square feet. The building is the first section of what will be a four-storey structure. The building of reinforced concrete has been designed to carry the necessary additional loading for the extra stories when required. Construction work is being done by A W Edwards Pty Ltd to plans and under the supervision of Mr Samuel Lipson architect Sydney.
