Claudia Lyon was the daughter of Cecil Andrew Lyon, a leader of the Republican Party in Texas during the late 19th and early 20th century. He married a Claudia Dupont in 1900, and their daughter was named for her.
On May 18, 1912, Miss Lyon participated in the launch of the Battleship USS Texas, as seen in this Bain photo. On another LOC Flickr page with a photo of her (wearing what looks like the same outfit), there's a comment with a link to a New York Times article about the event. -
