Barney View is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia Barney View Uniting church, Beaudesert The church was opened in 1908 as Thulimbah Methodist Church. Services are still held once a month. Formerly known as Thulimbah Methodist Church was opened free of debt on 14 June 1908. It was a culmination of the efforts and generosity of local people who who gave the land, the time, the labour and the money. Despite its long Methodist association this little church, set in surroundings of peace and beauty looking out at the grandeur of Mt Barney, has had an ecumenical history and its scrubbed pine pews hane seated folk of many religious affiliations. Sir Hugh Lane was mentioned by the Duke in his speech at the inauguration. London Evening Standard - Wednesday 30 November 1910:

Subsequently his Royal Highness proceeded to the Transvaal School of Mines, where he inaugurated the Art Gallery. In his speech the Duke said that the inauguration marked an important era in the historyof Johannesburg. He commented on the value of the gallery to the aspiring artist or student and the uplifting effect artistically that it would have on the public. His Royal Highness concluded by remarking that Johannes- burg owed a debt of gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Philips, Sir Hugh Lane, Mr. Otto Beit, Mr. Smuts, Councillor Hofmeyr, Mr. Neumann, Mr. Max Michaelis, and others for their personal efforts and their generous contributions.

There is a Lutyens-designed art gallery in Johannesburg, but per the article below, Lutyens first visited in November 1910, and thats the building completed in 1915, not the one pictured here.

On the left is Hyman D. Davis (LOC note spellings). Active in Ohio Republican machine politics, Taft named him as US Marshal for Northern Ohio. I don't think the Senate ever confirmed him but he received annual recess appointments to the post throughout the Taft administration.

Emmet Montgomery (Mont) Reilly was also an active Republican machine operative - in his case in Missouri. He was an early Teddy Roosevelt backer and went on to be part of the Warren G. Harding cabal. Harding made him Governor of Puerto Rico. He's gone down in history as one of the worst Governors in the history of Puerto Rico.

A photo of Reilly with Roosevelt aboard the K.A.V appears in the June 20, 1910 Bridgeport Evening Farmer. It looks like Mont is wearing the same hat and same watch fob.
