A William Phillips (1878-1968) was US Ambassador to Italy in the 1930s: in 1917 he was appointed assistant Secretary of State by Wilson: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Phillips_%28diplomat%29 His wife was the former Caroline Astor Drayton (1880-1965)--they married in 1910: www.nyhistory.org/node/21182

That would be Mrs. Arthur Scott-Burden--she was an heiress and an equestrian champion in the 1910s. She was formerly the Honorable Cynthia Burke Roche, of London (1884-1966); her maternal grandfather was a protegee of Cornelius Vanderbilt. After Scott-Burden (b. 1879) died in a 1921 polo accident, she remarried in 1922, to Guy Fairfax Cary. Mrs. Scott-Burden's brother, Edmund Maurice Burke Roche (1885-1955), was the grandfather of Diana Spencer.
