John A. Bennett the interesting thing is he is holding a Graflex 3 1/4 X 4 1/4 and was photographed with a 5x7. Was it a planned/commissioned portrait or was it two enthusiasts making each other’s portrait.

John A. Bennett also he has his right hand on the focus knob as if he is about to set-up a photo, but his left hand which would trip the shutter is supporting the camera, not ready to release the shutter. It also appears like he has the film set for horizontal.

Given the date inscribed on the negative, "10/28/25", and "President Harding" caption, this is the ship SS President Harding, arriving in New York Harbor after it rescued 28 members of the crew of the Italian freighter, SS Ignazio Florio in the North Atlantic, on October 21, 1925. The Italian freighter was floundering and suffering a list of 30-degrees in rough seas when the President Harding came upon her, and was able to rescue 28 souls before the Italian ship sunk below the ocean's surface.
