from Wikipedia article about Willie Ritchie: 'Ritchie's first title shot in a match with lightweight champion Ad Wolgast on November 28, 1912 in San Francisco. Ritchie dominated the fight, and after Wolgast landed two blows below the belt in the sixteenth round, the referee called the fight for Ritchie."

Thanks for connecting this to the event, which is also shown in a couple of other Bain photographs. We'll add some name and date information to our description of this photo.

Is he punching him where I think he's punching him?

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 9. -- Willie Ritchie, lightweight champion of the world, will box Ad Wolgast, from whom he won the title, in a ten-round bout at Milwaukee some time next month. The weight is to be 135 pounds. Ritchie sent word to-day that the financial terms were satisfactory. As there is to be no referee's decision the title will be jeopardized only by the possibility of a knockout. (Feb 10, 1914) Here is article about Ritchie and the first match between them, (Nov 28, 1912) apparently Wolgast landed some punches "below the belt". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_Ritchie here is bit about Wolgast cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/wolgast.htm
