Boxing champion Jack Dempsey en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Dempsey He was the second husband of Estelle Taylor en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estelle_Taylor "Ida Estelle Taylor (May 20, 1894 – April 15, 1958) was an American actress, singer, model, and animal rights activist. With 'dark-brown, almost black hair and brown eyes,' she was regarded as one of the most beautiful silent film stars of the 1920s." and this looks like her. From her Wikipedia entry: "Taylor and Dempsey were married on February 7, 1925 at First Presbyterian Church in San Diego, California. They lived in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. Her marriage to Dempsey ended in divorce on September 21, 1931." Kendrick en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._Freeland_Kendrick was Mayor of Philadelphia 1924-1928

In 1926, Philadelphia had a Sesquicentennial celebration, in which Dempsey had some involvement. See NYT of August 23, 1926 timesmachine.nytimes.com/timesmachine/1926/08/23/98852419... in which Dempsey "expects to go to Philadelphia to lunch with Mayor Kendrick." Given the date written on the negative, it seems likely that the Dempseys had visited Kendrick earlier in the year. In February, Kendrick had voiced opposition to having a fight as part of the sesquicentennial event. See NYT of Feb 16, 1926 timesmachine.nytimes.com/timesmachine/1926/02/17/10005044... The date written on the negative, which looks to be 6/25/26, would have been in the first month of the event.

The image appears to be Left to Right: *Mayor W. Freeland Kendrick of Philadelphia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._Freeland_Kendrick) *Gene Normile, Dempsey's Manager *Estelle Taylor, Dempsey's Wife *Jack Dempsey (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Dempsey) The date on the photograph may be incorrect, and could have been taken between August 22, 1926 when Dempsey visited Philadelphia in advance of the fight later in September against Gene Tunney. Thanks swanq and Dean Z. We'll update the information on our photo. Adding to Dean Z's identification of the people, the man on the far left is fight promoter Tex Rickard.
