  In the news in January, 1913: Jess Westergaard (also known as Jess Reimer) defeated Henry Ordemann in Minneapolis on January 7, 1913, and claimed the world's heavyweight wrestling title. A week later, he announced that he would become a boxer and defeat Jack Johnson for the heavyweight championship in that sport. (But of course, he never did.)

  Most likely Hermann Gässler (1889 - 1970), German weightlifter and wrestler (the "L" in the original caption is crossed out), see books.google.ch/books?id=9GkTAQAAIAAJ&q=%22Hermann+G%...   The lady on the left is very elegant in that flowing, full length beach robe. It is evident that women's hairstyles had already made the transition to the characteristic 40's styles by 1940.
