beachcomber australia Interesting re the woolstore, seems it remained a feature on the harbour for a fews years after the fire - no one knew quite what to do with it.

beachcomber australia Thanks Beachcomber, love the detail about YNGAREN being a 'zoo ship' - how unusual! Was hoping to find some images of the vessel's cargo in 1927 but alas not so far!

Yngaren was an early motorship with a very small funnel, hence the odd appearance. The ship was built in 1921 (only 10 years after the first commercial motorship) and was 5427 grt. The ship was owned by Red. A/B Transatlantic that maintained a regular cargo liner service from Europe to Australia.
