This was the 1915 built 6394 grt ship formerly Aschenburg, built by J C Teklenborg for the German DDG Hansa concern. After the war the ship was seized as reparations by the Shipping Controller, London and was allocated in 1921 to Ellerman & Bucknall as Lorenzo. In 1930 the ship was renamed City of Christchurch (same owner) and was sunk in 1943. The ship is shown in Ellerman & Bucknall colours. Ellermans Group used the Jones Bay wharves extensively when berthing in Sydney.

Trove is amazing - from Cairns Post 22/5/1924 p.4 - " S.S. Kut. The steamer Kut, of the Australian Oriental Line (Messrs. Bartlams Ltd., agents), is expected to leave Sydney for Manila, Hong Kong, Moji, Kobe, Osaka, and Yokohama on the 3rd June, if sufficient inducement offers, the vessel will call at Cairns. " Some other articles mention her taking zinc to Japan.
