Which one is supposed to be 'Big Jim' ?
According to - www.dib.ie/biography/larkin-james-a4685
"Larkin, James (1874–1947), labour leader, was born 28 January 1874 at 41 Combermere St., Toxteth, Liverpool, England, second eldest of three sons and three daughters of James Larkin, foundry labourer, and Mary Ann Larkin (née McNulty, McAnulty, or McNalty). His birth certificate gave no middle name, though he was married as James Joseph."
The tall lad standing at the back looks about 20, which would make the photo c. 1894. But Mr Henry Roe McMahon started his photo (stickyback!) business in Dublin in 1906 - www.stickybacks.uk/sbacki.asp
It doesn't add up, and I am confused. Someone will sort it all out ... -

beachcomber australia Thank you for using the word "confused"! I am too. And for the same reasons...
p.s. Mr Henry Roe McMahon sounds like a fascinating character! -

We have other photos by Henry, but all of them much later than The Larkins, and more in keeping wirh his independent operating dates, from 1906 onwards...
Was 1900 a cataloguing guesstimate?

I think they are not pioneers, they are "Strajeri" = Scouts. Pioneers were a communist organization while the scouts all over the world are not. Also the fashion of the mother's dress and hairstyle is from before 1945 -1948 or the pioneers were founded only in 1949 or 1950 while Staja Tarii was already disbanded in 1940 - it lasted only 5 years being the shortest scouts organization in history

DeannaSt I'm glad you bring this pic to my attention. This is one of the few photographs which shows Costică Acsinte standing next to his family.
