SS LORENZO at No 22 Jones Bay, Sydney Harbour

This was the 1915 built 6394 grt ship formerly Aschenburg, built by J C Teklenborg for the German DDG Hansa concern. After the war the ship was seized as reparations by the Shipping Controller, London and was allocated in 1921 to Ellerman & Bucknall as Lorenzo. In 1930 the ship was renamed City of Christchurch (same owner) and was sunk in 1943. The ship is shown in Ellerman & Bucknall colours. Ellermans Group used the Jones Bay wharves extensively when berthing in Sydney.

Built 1921 7007 grt. owned by Messargeries Maritimes. Chartered by Japan 1942 as Teison Maru and torpedoed and sunk 14 Oct 1942.

Correction. Above ship details were for Ville de Verdun. Ville d'Amiens was built 1924, 7068 grt owned by Messargeries Maritimes and scrapped at La Seyne 1953.
