The RMS 'Niagara' (launched 1912, Union Steamship Company) was nicknamed "the Titanic of the Pacific", but after the sinking of the real RMS Titanic this was dropped in favour of "Queen of the Pacific", according to wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Niagara . Sunk by a German mine off New Zealand in 1940 with a huge secret amount of gold on board, most of which they managed to salvage. I am hoping Frederick Wilkinson took a photo of the stern of the 'Niagara' too. No big deal in the exercise but it proves (imho) that the 'Niagara' was one of the first ships at Pier One in 1913 on her maiden voyage. One day a clear shot of that stern view will surface at State Records NSW with a totally wrong title ... I came across a reference to the 'Niagara' being in Woolwich Dock in 1913, ten years earlier than this photo, when she was "easily the largest vessel which has ever been docked in Australia." SMH 11/7/1913 p.10 - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/15434785
