    The presence of service ribbons on the older gents, and the lack of them on the younger, seem to place this photo much later that the 1910s. My guess is that this was taken not long before WW2, or maybe closer to the mid '30s.

    James Christensen Thank you Primeval Nature, you are exactly right. It was taken at the vessel's inaugural voyage from Auckland to Sydney in September 1936. I'll be putting a set together with all our AWATEA photographs which really displays the 1930s glamour associated with the vessel. There are more photos to come as well. beachcomber australia you beat me to it, tagging the pic! :)
