    I wish I knew the relationships between the boys. Their names even. Several of them look like they are from the same family. It's so unusual to see smiling children in early photos. They are adorable.

    Shoe polish box from the FF Dalley Co.; Frederick Fenner Dalley (d. 1884) was a Canadian businessman who ran a drugstore in Hamilton ONT, before setting up a factory to make shoe polish and other products in the 1850s. The business continued under his name and his sons' stewardship into the 1900s, making ink, baking powder, dye, flavorings, and yes, shoe polish. In 1925, the company was sold to Shineola.
