Fishing off the Breakfast Creek Bridge, Brisbane, 1949

Breakfast Creek is an easily accessible land-based spot that can produce jewfish, cod, sharks, snapper, and threadfin salmon. The spot to fish is at the mouth, where this large tidal creek joins the Brisbane River at Newstead House. There is deep water in the casting range and a rocky structure. Nearby lights attract baitfish at night. Expect big jewfish and threadfin salmon if you use live bait. This area can be fished on both sides of the creek, but the southern side around Newstead House has the best fishing points. Bream, cod, jacks, and squire snapper are caught with dead baits. Catfish and bull sharks can be a nuisance. Mullet, herring, and prawns are ideal live baits for big fish, as well as putty nose perch. When the tide slows fish live baits without weight, or with a float. Pick evening high tides when boat traffic is low during the week. Surf rods help when fishing here, but smaller rods will work. If you don’t score, no matter, the Breakfast Creek Hotel located off the northern bank is famous for its steaks. Source: www.wikifishingspots.com.au/breakfast-creek-brisbane-fish...

Breakfast Creek is located near Albion which is 4 km northeast of Brisbane. This waterway offers multiple chances to reel in some fish at various times throughout the day. But for the best results, we recommend coming early morning or early evening this is when the fish return after the ferries sail away. Fishing Type: Land-based Expect to find: Flathead, Bream, Threadfin Salmon, Jackfish, Snapper, Jewfish, and Mangrove jack Best time to go: Early morning or early Evening Source: manofmany.com/outdoors/best-fishing-spots-brisbane

Richard Hearne served as Mayor of Waterford in 1901 and 1902.

The family resided at 8 William Street, Waterford. Richard Hearne was one of the owners of Hearne and Cahill, boot manufacturers, with a factory located at 15 Broad Street, Waterford.

He was the father of John J. Hearne (1893-1969) who was credited by Éamon de Valera as having been the architect-in-chief and draftsman of the Irish Constitution of 1937.
