We have seen a Clonbrock photo from Derry before. In the comments on the below, I noted that CLON2084 nearby in the catalogue is in Derry, between 1902-1919. The sequence 2080 to 2085 are all around Derry.
Two sets of railings! To be sure, to be sure?

    Dark clouds over Derry
  • Niall McAuley said:
O Mac It's strange after looking at so many Lawrence images where they carefully photoshop the sky out of the image to see clouds in this one. I remember Hinde postcards from when I was a kid, and the sky would be a ridiculous primary blue with fake white clouds...

I had no idea this game used to involve actual wheelbarrows. When did wheelbarrow races change to using children walking on their hands?
  • Wystan said:
Well, they probably phased out the barrows after the first several bloody impalements on those rigid slalom spikes . . . .
  • skillful north said:
Probably phased out when people no longer owned wheelbarrows!

Sad to think all these guys are dead. I wonder what they achieved in their lives. Lovely historical shot.

Indeed, wonder how many went on to science as a career.

    Faces so full of promise.

How strange - notice that all the labelled chemical bottles are empty !! Wonder could this be a promotional photograph of their new chemistry laboratory- probably taken even before the first chemistry practical class? Obviously the lads are posing with no experiment to be performed. Stuart.
