An excellent portrait of a very handsome and demure young couple. As the (Major) Bishops Bride Limerick would have had potentially unpleasant connections for the young lady. Another Bishops bride was made notorious in the great Limerick saga "Drunken Thady and the Bishops lady" which may be summed up by the few lines below! I am sure that this young lady was nothing like the other and I hope that she lived a long and happy life?

Tis true she lived, tis true she died,
tis true she was the bishops bride,
she lived like most ungodly ladies
spending his Reverend Lordships treasure
chasing the worlds evil pleasure.
In love with supper, cards and balls
and luxurious sin in festive halls
where flaming hearts and flaming wine

Débora Even if it probably is a school textbook! These studio portraits clearly segregate a Mrs from a Miss. While the latter may have a book, the former may have a women's magazine such as Lady of the House. A wife/mother has no time to read books?
