    pellethepoet Fantastic work! A plethora of panoramas! I think the photo / series is much earlier - possibly mid 1880s. It gets very confusing with which grandstand is "new" in the Trove newspaper reports, and the various extensions, fires and rebuilds. The style of the photos suggest earlier to me, as does the lack of Boater hats. Also in the bottom right photo above, Randwick is still just a collection of large houses, but I think the left photo shows the Tram sheds (1880?) in King Street. There is a great illustration of the new grand stand when it was built in 1876, which almost matches this photo, except for a newer St Leger Stand (1882) - Illustrated Sydney News 29/4/1876 - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/63333703
