"Leaving" Race day, perhaps, since people are walking DOWN the ramps to the trams. This is looking south, with the racecourse to the left, at the end of the pedestrian overbridge, and OLSH / St Pauls Seminary on the hill, at right. The trams are moving away from the camera, toward the Ascot St exit. Note also the dividing fence to stop people from wandering across the tracks, and the stub finials on the tramway-style steel poles, a few of which still remain in Sydney streets.

A fleet of 'O' type trams. The number of the tram in the foreground looks to be 857. The 1st 'O' type tram was numbered 806 and was a prototype for the 'O' type seen here. It originally had an opened drivers area but was covered, like a cabin, in later models.
