[http://www.flickr.com/photos/51979177@N02] Great article! Our vessels curator thinks the image of BONA also appears in Sydney Sails, it would be great to find the originals. Apparently the BONA in this article is the cutter BONA, as opposed to the schooner BONA (that later became BOOMERANG - confused yet?). The schooner BONA was built in Sydney and taken to Melbourne, while the cutter BONA was racing in Sydney from about 1899. Our yachting expert David thinks there must have been a time in the 1920s when both were in Sydney and the Alberts changed the name of their schooner to BOOMERANG. (The Alberts also had two BOOMERANGs, one a motor vessel & the other the schooner). Phew!

Stay tuned for more! -

This photo is likely to be from the 1926 Pittwater Regatta - PITTWATER CUP. The big yachts are to race for the Pittwater Cup; This handsome trophy has been presented by the treasurer, Mr. C. A. Le Maistre Walker, who is enjoying his first year of office. The course is 16 miles, and H. Nossiter's Utiekah II. is to be on the limit mark of 21min. N. L. II. Griffin's White Wings is oh 24, J. S. Palmer's Aoma 18 J, J. R. Palmer's Brand V.... H. J. Fitzpatrick's Bona 10, and Frank Albert's Rawhiti scr. Examining the handicaps, it certainlylooks as if the race is a gift for Rawhiti, as no penalty- has been imposed on the big green boat for her four recent wins. THE YACHTSMEN. (1926, December 24). beachcomber australia Thanks for the link beachcomber. You're probably right about the date because their clothing is certainly 1920s.

Alison Guesdon Hi Alison, thanks so much for the link. The same photo from the Arrow appeared in the Motor Boating and Yachting Monthly (see link in caption above) but with no one identified. Fabulous!
