I believer this is the Eastern side of what became Garden Island (mainland) If I recall correctly, from 1965 to 1975, the two buildings were still standing and being used. A small Signals office was directly behind the furtherest building.

How things change over the decades. I would never have recognized these building because although still standing (at least they were in 1975) they are or were somewhat in need of a make-over.

Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons Yes, Mosman Bay at the time was a magnet for artists and photographers. A PhM Phillips Collection photo from 90 degrees to the left got me started on this Flickr armchair archaeology -
