The 308th Infantry paraded down 5th Avenue on February 4, 1918, past the reviewing stand at the New York Public Library, shown here, on its way to the troop trains carrying the soldiers to war: "CAMP UPTON MEN ON REVIEW HERE; Eager Soldiers of the 308th Infantry Show Results of Five Months' Training. ALL LOOK PHYSICALLY FIT Bitter Cold Thins Crowd of Spectators--Governor and Mayor in Reviewing Stand.
