Maybe South Park St at Inglis, before Young Ave.

The trolley tracks did go along South Park St., and turned up Inglis so you could be right, Lynn Currie Thanks!

In 1923 we switched to driving on the right side of the road. Same with the steering wheel switching to the left side. Although blurry, it looks like this car has the steering wheel on the left side and is driving on the right... so I'm thinking it must be after 1923

The Chevrolet has a 1960 license plate, which was also used in 1961. The Studebaker does not have the 1961 windshield sticker, so the photo probably dates to 1960.

Good eye Bill Jarvis ! When we can zoom into those license stickers it is really helpful for dating photos. We may never nail the location down, unless someone recognizes those tall buildings in the background.

Could the building in the back on the right be the old Halifax infirmary?

Abbie Hudson Hi Abbie! It looks like it definitely could be the Halifax Infirmary, but we couldn't completely be sure, so I've just labelled the photo with that as a possibility for now. Thanks for your help!

The buildings in the background are ~80-90 Hollis Street (new civic ~1496 Hollis Street). I think that would mean this photo was taken from the north side of Salter (between Lower Water and Hollis)... possibly from a back/side yard of 5 Salter Street (Ref. Retrieval Code 102-39-1-1321)
