  We had a building like this in Halifax?! What a crying shame it was allowed to have been torn down! Let's stop willy nilly destroying our amazing built heritage in this city!

  They tore this down for Scotia Square? They had all the elements in that neighbourhood for urban renewal. Renewal.. not demolition.

  Actually, R. D. Barry, Buckingham St. was parallel to Duke St. but one block north. The Pentagon building was at the bottom of the street -- where Buckingham met Upper Water -- so not where Scotia Square is. The building burned in a fire in the early 60s and then sat empty for a time. It may have been demolished because of the damage and/or because of the redevelopment plan for the downtown.
